Mike Serafin was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and grew up in Brandon, Florida. He fondly remembers spending summers at his grandparents' farm in rural north-central Wisconsin, where hard work and a carefree sense of humor were part of everyday life. His childhood memories inspired his children's book, "Petra the Praying Mantis."
Mike attended Central Texas College and the University of Maryland, focusing on literature and writing. He has traveled to over 90 countries, which inspired his first two children's books, "7 Stories from Baghdad" and "4 Seasons of Baghdad."
