The illustrations for "Petra" were created by Morgan Garner during the COVID-19 pandemic. She lives in northern Virginia with her parents. An avid soccer player, Morgan also enjoys playing Minecraft with her friends. This is her first book.
 
The character of Petra was first imagined by Christopher Riveiro when he was just 12 years old. Christopher, who was diagnosed with autism at the age of four, brings joy to his artwork through bright colors and vivid drawings. He enjoys experimenting with different mediums and has mastered the ‘one-stroke drawing’ technique, which is often associated with Picasso. Christopher lives with his parents outside Tampa, Florida.
